What does freedom with responsibility mean to you?

Freedom with responsibility has always been a topic of interest for many of those who live in Columbia, Missouri and I. If you are enrolled in the Columbia school district you hear many times that when you get to the high school level you will be given freedom with responsibility. Many teachers have said that means that you are able to do whatever you want as long as you are responsible with that of which you are doing. 

I would have to say that i mostly agree with that because of how many people have said the same thing. Eleanor Roosevelt said that "Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry is own weight, this is a frightening prospect." what i understood from that is that if you aren't able to grow up or be responsible for your actions that might be a scary thing for you. You have to be responsible with the freedom you are given, or your freedom could get taken away. Nevertheless as Sigmund Freud said "Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened by responsibility." Mr. Freud has a point. Many kids going from the middle school level to the high school level are afraid of the transition due to the fact that they fear that if they get to much freedom they will take it for granted as well as the responsibility. For example at Rock Bridge High School you are able to leave the classroom with no pass, you will not get into trouble if not seen with a hall pass. you have the freedom to roam around the hallways. On the other hand if you take to long you could get written up because you have freedom, but to an extent. You have to be responsible with the freedom that you are given.
Freedom is the power or right to speak, think, and act how one wants without restrict or hindrance. Responsibility means the state or fact of being countable or to blame for something. Knowing the definition of what both words mean i can gather that you have the right to act, speak, and think as you want as long as your are accountable for your actions. That to me would be what freedom with responsibility meant to me.
